Psychiatric NURSE Practitioner- Weekend Coverage

Responsibilities

Mesilla Valley Hospital (UHS facility) is a free‑standing psychiatric hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Mesilla Valley Hospital has been operating since 1987 and serves patients with psychiatric and substance abuse issues. The 120‑bed facility provides behavioral health and substance abuse treatment to residents of New Mexico, West Texas, and Arizona.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner to assist with patient evaluation and care.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the attending physician, the ideal candidate will perform psychiatric assessments of patients, maintain documentation in accordance with hospital policies and medical bylaws, provide individual and family therapy and/or medication management per hospital bylaws, lead interdisciplinary master treatment team meetings, direct individualized patient treatment plans, appropriately request consultations when indicated, and provide psychiatric consultations as requested.

Experience/Education

• MSN or DNP required.
• Licensed as a Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the state of New Mexico.
• Prior experience in hospital‑based or outpatient psychiatric practice preferred.
• Must maintain active status with medical staff.

Skills

• Strong clinical assessment skills and knowledge of crisis intervention procedures.
• Knowledge of family and group therapy techniques.
