Production Manager, Operations Manager
The Ready Mix Area Manager is responsible for overseeing two plants in Las Cruces, NM and El Paso, TX (LC RM Plant & West Quarry). This role works closely with the batch man and drivers to manage ready‑mix plant production, operations, and site facilities. The manager plans and budgets, ensures effective and efficient operations, maximizes equipment utilization, maintains safety and environmental compliance, and manages personnel.
This position guarantees that customer quality requirements are met.
- Culture a positive work environment and safety culture in area of responsibility. Build individual accountability and rewards/recognition into the safety approach and company goals, responsible and accountable for safety for the transportation group.
- Manage safety, environmental matters, cost control, production and maintenance for the ready‑mix facilities.
- Establish and monitor a production plan: maintain accurate cost and inventory control, calculate and analyze productivity and material data.
- Document production statistics and produce reports and analysis as required.
- Oversee mobile equipment.
- Responsible for capital and operating budget processes.
- Develop plans to work toward improved performance and lower operating costs.
- Understand the value of quality and ensure processes are in place to provide a quality product to customers.
- Perform duties related to OSHA/DOT regulations, including accident investigations and reporting, safety meetings, training, and actively engage with employees to reinforce safe behaviors.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure safety, environmental compliance, quality and materials performance.
- Communicate and maintain positive relationships with the local community.
- Personnel management and development.
- Ensure that all preventative maintenance actions are completed and documented.
- Observe job site testing and perform comparative testing of ready‑mix concrete.
- Implement/maintain training programs for drivers including driving technique, truck maintenance, product delivery, ticketing, payments and customer service.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 8+ years experience running a ready‑mix operation, including ancillary functions such as yard production and product delivery; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years supervisory/management experience.
- Experience in planning and budgeting.
- Experience with OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and requirements.
- Experience managing groups of employees in one or more locations.
- Knowledge of office systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Customer service oriented.
- Experience in a vertically integrated construction materials organization.
- Experience with Command Batch and COUPA.
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system.
