General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the store and general operations when the Manager is on duty. Duties include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, ensuring merchandise presentation and cleanliness, and executing company operational processes.
Essential Functions- Maintain a safe, secure environment: practice safety behaviors, maintain awareness on the sales floor, manage security of the building, keep emergency exits clear, handle safety equipment and testing.
- Deliver excellent customer service: treat customers, associates, and leaders with respect; demonstrate courtesy and professionalism; recognize associates.
- Represent the brand: maintain a professional appearance, enforce dress code, keep the store clean and merchandised.
- Manage merchandising: learn recovery, sizing, markdowns, process merchandise, receive inbound deliveries, organize stockrooms, assist package placement, secure back‑stock, reduce loss, ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
- Loss prevention: maintain presence on the floor, engage customers and associates, safeguard confidential information, maintain PVM, conduct package inspections, execute best practices.
- Front‑end supervision: run best practices, maintain pace and energy, train staff on registers and shortage policies, handle break schedules, maintain equipment and supplies, oversee go‑back processes, teach “Scan and Bag” practice.
- Fitting‑room duties: maintain cleanliness, audit garment tags, ensure go‑back compliance.
- Administrative duties as assigned: conduct cash pulls and deposits, manage front‑end controls, handle payroll administration, other duties.
- Demonstrate competencies: manage work processes, business acumen, plan and prioritize, build talent, collaborate, lead by example, communicate effectively, ensure accountability.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
- Basic math skills used in retail.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Use all store equipment including PDTs, registers and PCs.
- Stand, walk and move for up to 100% of working time.
- Bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
- Occasionally push, pull or lift more than 25 lbs.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
- Stockroom shifts: push, pull or lift more than 20 lbs.
- Retail associates;
