Summary: Join our team as a Journeyman Electrician! We're looking for someone to handle electrical repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You'll work with wiring diagrams, solid-state controls, and ensure systems run smoothly. A valid Journeyman Electrician's License (NM EE98J) and a driver's license are required.
Classification Summary:
Under general supervision, performs electrical repairs and maintenance of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment. Requires interpretation of wiring diagrams or schematic drawings. May develop wiring diagrams. May include maintenance of electronic or solid state controls having interlocking or interdependent circuits. Has working knowledge of the National Electric Code.
Classification Standard Duties:
Connects wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splices wires as required. Measures, cuts, threads, and installs electrical conduit. Checks and replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other simple elements of electrical systems such as lighting fixtures, tubes, and ballasts. Pulls wiring through conduit; performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits. Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.

Skills and Abilities
:
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems and basic wiring principles.
SKILLS:
Skill in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of electrical system equipment and components. Skill in both verbal and written communication.
ABILITIES:
Ability to apply NEC standards. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment. Ability to measure, cut, thread, pull, and install electrical conduit.

Bargaining Unit Eligibility: This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.
Lifting Requirements: Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
Risk: Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
