Inpatient Driver

Responsibilities

Mesilla Valley Hospital has been in operation since 1987, serving those in need of treatment for a variety of psychiatric and substance abuse issues. Mesilla Valley Hospital is a 120‑bed facility providing access to quality behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment to residents of New Mexico, West Texas and Arizona.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides transportation of patients to and from the facility, offering continuous observation, interaction, and role modeling while maintaining safety at all times.

EXPERIENCE/

EDUCATION:

High‑school graduate or equivalent preferred. Must hold a valid, class‑specific driver’s license applicable to the transportation of patients.

Additional Requirements:

Must be 18 years or older, have a good driving record from the Department of Public Safety, complete training in seclusion and restraint procedures within 90 days of employment, and may be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.

• Ability to lift, pull, twist, and stoop when assisting patients.
• Ability to lift or hold a patient unassisted, may be required.
• Ability to move is required in the delivery of patient care.
• Ability to work under any weather conditions, inside or out, without regard to temperature.
• Visual acuity and good hearing needed to operate a vehicle.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
• Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks under deadlines and with short notice.

Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements.
