The Cost Accountant supports the inventory and costing team in all areas of accounting for manufactured inventory, including performing related internal controls. This includes performing the Company’s direct and indirect cost absorption processes, recording inventory‑related journal entries, reconciling inventory account balances, and working with the costing team to ensure that all inventory is valued and stated correctly in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures and U.S. GAAP.
PositionResponsibilities
- Assist in maintaining accurate cost standards for materials and labor.
- Review production reports and verify data accuracy within SAP.
- Prepare and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and production reports.
- Reconcile inventory accounts and assist with month‑end close activities.
- Monitor and research cost variances, including purchase price variances (PPV).
- Prepare journal entries related to cost accounting.
- Support quarterly and annual cost reviews and annual updates to standard rates.
- Collaborate with operations and IT to improve cost reporting processes.
- Assist with implementation of costing functionality for new products or departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.
- 2+ years of accounting experience in industry, audit, or a combination of both; costing and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- CPA preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
