Position Summary

This position is At‑Will and will serve at the pleasure of the CEO. It provides anesthesia to surgical cases involving the heart, lungs, and other operations of the human chest, including bypass surgery, minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and complex multi‑stage aortic surgery. It also works with non‑cardiac procedures such as esophageal resection and all types of video‑assisted thoracoscopic surgery.

Job Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine, completion of an Anesthesiology Residency and a one‑year cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship from an accredited institution, and at least three (3) years of clinical practice in cardiothoracic anesthesiology.
• Board Certified or Eligible in Anesthesiology.
• Valid medical license in the State of Nevada;
  State of Nevada Pharmacy Board License to prescribe medications; DEA controlled substance registration certificate.
• Required certifications:
  Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of adult and pediatric care, equipment, supplies and practices; federal, state, local and accreditation laws, regulations and standards; clinical operations and hospital business operations; quality assurance and performance improvement.
• Skills in effective provision of medical care, assessment and improvement of care via QI programs, development of policies and procedures, leadership, decision making under stress, and communication with diverse populations.

Physical and Working Conditions

Mobility to stand for long periods; stamina to maintain concentration over extended periods; vision and hearing adequate for reading printed materials and VDT screens; ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force; reasonable accommodations available.
