Part-Time Instructor, Advanced Manufacturing - CNC Machining - FY 2026
DWED (Department of Workforce and Economic Development) and the Applied Technology Department at the College of Southern Nevada invite applications for a Part-Time Advanced Manufacturing - Machining Instructor within the Advanced Manufacturing Program beginning immediately. The successful candidate will demonstrate industry and teaching experience.
ResponsibilitiesThe Advanced CNC Manufacturing Instructor will develop and instruct lab and lecture classes and develop student learning outcomes and course descriptions. This includes organizing instruction towards achieving student learning objectives; selecting textbooks and another curriculum; conferring with students; evaluating student mastery and providing a safe and positive classroom and laboratory environment.
Primary teaching areas are in Advanced Manufacturing Technology topics such as:
- Metrology
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Machining
- CNC Milling and Turning
- CADD and Additive Manufacturing (Preferred)
- Automation with PLCs and Robotics (Preferred)
- Related engineering technology and technical physics classes
Other duties will include:
Program assessment and curriculum development; student mentoring; assess student learning and progress, scholarship of teaching and learning; maintaining accurate student records, upholding professional and ethical standards, participate in professional development activities; outreach to the college, community, and profession; supervising student assistants and staff as necessary; collaborate with other instructors and staff and duties as assigned by the Director of Advanced Manufacturing.
The candidate is expected to participate in student recruitment activities. The candidate will participate and assist the team to maintain and develop strong industry and community partnerships, within and outside of the program advisory committee. They will also commit to continuing their professional development as an educator through attendance at industry conferences and membership in professional associations.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate's degree in the following:
Industrial or Mechanical Technology;
Mechanical Engineering (Degrees in related fields are also acceptable) OR five (5) years of industrial experience in a machining environment AND - A minimum of 1 year of work experience in a machining environment using CNC Mill/Lathe Machines
- Teaching experience in Career and Technical Education (Preferred)
In addition to the minimum requirements, the department encourages applicants with the following credentials to apply:
- Bachelor's degree in education, adult education, or a related field
- Experience teaching IET programs, preferably in a CTE setting
- Experience teaching ABE, including ESL, math, and reading
- 10 or more years of work experience in Manufacturing or Industrial Technologies
- 5 or more years of work experience in Machining
- 1 or more years of experience teaching in Career and Technical Education
- Leadership/ Management Experience
- Industrial certifications such as NIMS, NC3, etc.
- Experience teaching online/hybrid classes, Canvas
- Experience creating a college curriculum
- Experience developing an industrial lab in a college setting, such as a Machining, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Technologies Lab
- Experience working in diverse multicultural situations
