Overview
Junior Achievement is a business/Education partnership where volunteers teach students K-12 about the free enterprise system using a pre-designed curriculum.
Our mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. At Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada, we provide hands-on experiential programs that teach children in the Clark County School District the key concepts of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. Through our proven curriculum designed on a national level to align with Common Core and state standards, hundreds of business volunteers each year share life skills that help shape students’ futures.
Junior Achievement’s programs focus on three pillars: financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurial thinking. JA programs connect classroom learning to students’ future and inspire them to dream about who they will become.
JA's Biz Town
, created by Junior Achievement, is an engaging program that immerses elementary and middle school students in a simulated mini-economy. Students take on roles as employees and consumers, making financial literacy, teamwork, and civic responsibility fun. Through hands-on activities, they gain practical insights into business operations and essential skills for future involvement, blending learning with play.
A Biz Town volunteer mentors and guides students through a simulated economy experience, helping them perform job roles, manage finances, and learn real-world skills like teamwork and problem-solving. They facilitate the day’s activities, offer feedback, and ensure students stay on task while creating a fun and engaging learning environment. Volunteers play a key role in helping students understand business concepts and develop important life skills.
