Overview
The instructor position plays a critical role in the teaching and learning process, ensuring that students achieve mastery of course, program, and institutional learning outcomes. The instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality instruction, engaging in program improvement processes, and participating in various institutional and student affairs initiatives.
Responsibilities- Instruction and Curriculum Delivery:
- Prepares lessons and course materials in accordance with the college's curriculum.
- Adheres to course syllabi, ensuring alignment with program goals and accreditation requirements.
- Delivers instruction to students through dynamic and varied instructional techniques.
- Maintains a positive, inclusive, and professional classroom environment that fosters student engagement and success.
- Student Support and Success:
- Maintains regular and open communication with students regarding their progress, attendance, and performance.
- Provides proactive academic advising, tutoring, and office hours to assist students with course material, assignments, and career development.
- Participates in student affairs activities such as new student orientation, student clubs, and career services events.
- Assessment and Program Improvement:
- Regularly assesses student learning outcomes and implements strategies to enhance performance and course effectiveness.
- Utilizes student achievement and learning data to contribute to program improvement processes.
- Stays current with industry trends and academic best practices.
- Collaboration and Faculty Development:
- Participates in departmental meetings and faculty development activities.
- Collaborates with colleagues across departments to support student success and program outcomes.
- Mentors and supports new faculty members to ensure successful integration.
- Compliance and Accreditation:
- Adheres to institutional, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
- Documents grades, attendance, and advising information in a timely manner.
- Participates in programmatic and institutional assessments to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

- Ensures relevance of instructional materials and facilitates improvements.
- Maintains classroom and lab equipment in good working condition.
- Fulfills additional responsibilities as assigned.

- Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in subject area or another subject area with 18+ graduate hours in the subject area.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret materials related to area of expertise; effective communication with students and stakeholders.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic calculations relevant to course material and student assessments.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and any software required for course delivery.
- This position is on site, student facing. Physical demands include regular standing, walking, sitting, and the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
- Work environment includes vocational classrooms, labs, or office spaces with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals in certain instructional settings.
