General Education Instructor

Overview

The instructor position plays a critical role in the teaching and learning process, ensuring that students achieve mastery of course, program, and institutional learning outcomes. The instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality instruction, engaging in program improvement processes, and participating in various institutional and student affairs initiatives.

• Instruction and Curriculum Delivery:
  • Prepares lessons and course materials in accordance with the college's curriculum.
  • Adheres to course syllabi, ensuring alignment with program goals and accreditation requirements.
  • Delivers instruction to students through dynamic and varied instructional techniques.
  • Maintains a positive, inclusive, and professional classroom environment that fosters student engagement and success.
• Student Support and Success:
  • Maintains regular and open communication with students regarding their progress, attendance, and performance.
  • Provides proactive academic advising, tutoring, and office hours to assist students with course material, assignments, and career development.
  • Participates in student affairs activities such as new student orientation, student clubs, and career services events.
• Assessment and Program Improvement:
  • Regularly assesses student learning outcomes and implements strategies to enhance performance and course effectiveness.
  • Utilizes student achievement and learning data to contribute to program improvement processes.
  • Stays current with industry trends and academic best practices.
• Collaboration and Faculty Development:
  • Participates in departmental meetings and faculty development activities.
  • Collaborates with colleagues across departments to support student success and program outcomes.
  • Mentors and supports new faculty members to ensure successful integration.
• Compliance and Accreditation:
  • Adheres to institutional, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
  • Documents grades, attendance, and advising information in a timely manner.
  • Participates in programmatic and institutional assessments to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

  • Maintains classroom and lab equipment in good working condition.

• Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in subject area or another subject area with 18+ graduate hours in the subject area.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret materials related to area of expertise; effective communication with students and stakeholders.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic calculations relevant to course material and student assessments.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and any software required for course delivery.
