Senior Cathode Design Engineer
Redwood Materials is recruiting a Senior Cathode Design Engineer to join the Cathode Materials team to develop next‑generation cathode active materials (CAM) from recycled materials. This role is based in our Centre of Excellence in McCarran, NV.
Responsibilities- Provide engineering expertise to identify, develop and implement production technologies for scale‑up and production of cathode active materials from recycled materials.
- Develop a technology roadmap to support our business strategy and customer needs. Define and lead technology projects.
- Develop a network of equipment vendors to support future capital investment.
- Create intellectual property and work with the legal team to write and file patent applications.
- Provide technical expertise to commercial and business development teams, senior management and stakeholders.
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in materials science or engineering.
- 5‑10 years of industrial experience in process scale‑up, process engineering, and technology management.
- Technical expertise in inorganic materials processing including solids handling, calcination, washing, drying, filtering, and milling.
- Recognized as a technology leader in inorganic materials processing.
- Ability to manage and prioritize activities in a fast‑changing environment.
- Track record of building trust with internal teams and external customers.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place.
- Hands‑on work in a laboratory, including standing and operating equipment at a lab bench.
- Environment: office, wet laboratory, chemical plant, outdoor test sites.
- Essential physical requirement: working hands‑on in a research lab setting.
- Travel required as needed, less than 10 %.
The position is full‑time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
