Join the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) as a Mechanical Engineer, Facilities Management. The role focuses on building automation, HVAC, plumbing, and energy systems for the university campus.
Key Responsibilities- Provide mechanical engineering design, analysis, and planning services for campus facilities.
- Direct and supervise HVAC and Building Automation staff in high‑level planning, maintenance, and problem‑solving.
- Collaborate with faculty, facilities management, architects, contractors, and vendors to design and build innovative systems.
- Develop and implement environmental sustainability solutions that conserve energy and water.
- Consult on the feasibility of design and engineering concepts, including alternative approaches.
- Review campus mechanical systems to ensure safety, quality, and functionality.
- Evaluate equipment performance, reliability, and safety.
- Modify designs to mitigate malfunctions and meet evolving requirements.
- Maintain design and construction standards, ensure code compliance, and guide projects from inception to completion.
- Specify and procure commercial mechanical materials, parts, and assemblies.
- Develop and manage engineering‑related plans, timelines, budgets, and deliverable schedules.
Schedule:
Monday‑Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Weekend and extended work hours may be required to meet operational needs and 24/7 emergency response.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or an equivalent field from an accredited institution.
- At least three years of relevant experience in a similar or advanced role.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, Building Automation, codes, and regulations.
- Professional Engineering or LEED AP credentials preferred.
- LEED AP certification.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience in higher education facility management.
$120,000 – $140,000, or commensurate with the labor market.
