This position is available at any location in the United States; ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. based office.

Your impact:
As a Senior Telecommunications Engineer, you’ll provide technical design leadership of systems for data center buildings, including structured cabling systems, wireless, audio‑visual and other low‑voltage systems. You will mentor other telecom team members and work closely with clients in the Data Center market.

Responsibilities
  • Lead BIM designers in the preparation of engineering drawings
  • Create or modify DIV 27 specifications
  • Conduct site visits and review technical documents
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Sign and seal telecommunications design packages
  • Mentor other team members
  • Identify and implement processes to improve department efficiency
Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience actively designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA, BICSI and NFPA 70 standards
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam
  • Excellent project management skills and self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers and clients
  • Familiarity with responding to RFPs and providing Quality Assurance of telecommunications systems designed by others
  • Experience with startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems
  • Experience in creating and maintaining a project budget and schedule, and identifying and mitigating company risk
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; the ability to obtain multiple PE licenses is required
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
  • 4 years of telecommunications design experience in Data Centers
  • Experience working on other low‑voltage systems, including security, audio‑visual and wireless
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms
  • Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls systems and security systems
  • Thorough knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures
  • Credential as an RCDD
