Senior Mining Engineer, Underground

THE ROLE

We're seeking a senior underground engineer to join our clients operations in the western USA. The Senior Mining Engineer will serve as a pivotal member of the engineering team, providing expert knowledge, leadership, and technical guidance in all facets of the mining operation. The role encompasses the design, planning, and execution of mining projects while ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

The Senior Mining Engineer will be responsible for improving current mining methods and processes, as well as innovating and implementing new techniques to ensure sustainable and profitable operations.

You'll be working closely with a team of dedicated professionals and collaborating closely with geology, geotechnical, and mine operations. The company is looking for someone in this role who can grow into a technical leadership role, either working across multiple sites or transferring into their head office.

THE PERSON

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's or master's degree in mining engineering or a related discipline and a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in the mining industry, with a strong background in mine design, planning, and operations. Preference will be given to candidates who already have their P.E. designation, but consideration will be given to those who have commensurate experience.

There will be some aspects of mentoring and developing junior engineers within this role, without the requirement to directly manage a team.
