Amentum is seeking a Planner/Estimator Electrical out of Las Vegas, NV. The role involves developing technical project requirements for low voltage electrical systems, coordinating bid packages with contracting officers, creating project budgetary estimates, managing project implementation, ordering materials per purchasing standards, and collaborating with other departments to plan facility O&M projects.

Essential Responsibilities- Research and prepare cost estimates, specifications, standards, and procurement packages for construction projects.
- Coordinate with engineers and other estimators to develop multi‑discipline design projects.
- Use industry‑based estimating systems to develop ROM and detailed cost estimates, recognizing Davis Bacon Act decisions and all bargaining agreement manpower, craft, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Develop detailed statements of work and sequential work plans by discipline for construction, renovation, modification, repair, demolition or subcontract, ensuring compliance with state, government, and construction industry codes, standards, and regulations.
- Prepare independent estimates to submit with completed proposals.
- Build purchase requests for materials, equipment, resources, or other requirements to support planned work on all projects.
- Utilize Microsoft Project to create phased schedules focusing on the Critical Path Method (CPM).
- Plan jobs including tasks, work instructions, cost estimates, man‑hour requirements, scheduling, and material requirements on work orders.
- Analyze work progress by visiting sites, monitoring work accomplishment, quality, man‑hours expended, and materials used according to plan.
- Conduct after‑project audits with work centers for evaluation of completed work, comparison of actual versus planned work, and identification of lessons learned.
- Design detailed plans for installation and maintenance of power distribution systems and create as‑built drawings after installation.
- Apply knowledge of low‑ and high‑voltage systems, switch gear, transformers, automatic transfer switches, and generators from the demarcation box to device termination.
- Familiarize with NEC, NEMA, and NFPA 70E codes, symbols, and variations.
- Perform all other position‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field and 2–4 years of project planning experience.
- Excellent written communication and organizational skills with a detail‑oriented approach.
- Must qualify for and maintain a US Government Top‑Secret security clearance and work‑location access. US Citizenship is required.
- Possess a valid state‑issued driver’s license.
- Typical office environment with occasional visits to construction sites; lifting up to 20 pounds; constant sitting at a computer; constant use of sight and speech for communication; constant mental alertness.
- Strong planning and organizing skills required.
- Must be able to work under deadlines.
