Overview
The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) invites applications for an Instructor in Land Surveying within the Physical Sciences, Tenure Track. This position will teach undergraduate courses in Land Surveying and Geomatics, including civil engineering (CEE), construction engineering management (CEM), upper-division computer-aided design (CADD), and land surveying (SURV). Outdoor field work is required. The position is open until filled.

This position will teach undergraduate classes in Land Surveying and Geomatics. Courses may include upper-division computer-aided design (CADD) and land surveying (SURV). Candidates should have knowledge of surveying concepts such as static GNSS surveys, imaging stations, datum understanding, licensing laws, and the land surveying profession. Knowledge of GIS and CADD as applied to land surveying and geomatics is required. Outdoor field work is required.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying and/or Geomatics or equivalent from an accredited institution and 10 years of comparable professional experience, or an equivalent education/experience combination.
- Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license; licensure must be maintained at own expense.
- Relevant work experience with professional capabilities and ability to build industry relationships.
- Knowledge of basic surveying tools (automatic levels, total stations, RTK GNSS, data collectors).
- Knowledge of static GNSS surveys, imaging stations, datum concepts, licensing laws, and the land surveying profession.
- Ability to use GIS and CADD for land surveying and geomatics applications.
- Ability to hike to survey practice fields and perform occasional monument setting or maintenance of equipment.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills; interest in undergraduate teaching.
- Proficiency in written and oral English.
Initial salary depends on education level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. Example ranges: with a Master’s degree, $58,046 to $74,304; up to $89,166 with Doctorate and 10 years of experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience is considered for initial placement. Tenure Track or Market Factor salary options are available.
Additional CompensationMarket Factor salary: $66,337. Eligible for additional compensation for summer courses and Program Coordination. Relocation expenses may be reimbursed per CSN Faculty Contract (CSN-NFA Contract 2022-25).
