Konami Gaming is looking for a Sound Designer II to join our team! Sound Designer II creates original music and sound effects for slot machines and other gaming platforms, collaborating with programmers to implement audio assets. By considering player psychology, they craft immersive audio experiences that enhance gameplay. Leveraging technical skills, they contribute to audio pipeline improvements and ensure smooth cross‑team collaboration.

- Compose original sound design and music for video and stepper slot machines and other gaming platforms.
- Use sound effects, background music (BGM), and voiceover effectively to highlight key gameplay elements.
- Collaborate with programmers to implement audio assets using scripting and integration tools.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of development workflows across a range of game types, platforms, and products.
- Perform moderately complex audio data setup with minimal errors, while continuing to develop advanced technical skills.
- Participate in the audio adaptation and conversion of legacy games for different platforms, ensuring sound quality and consistency across various hardware and software environments.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the audio pipeline.
- Design sound from the perspective of the player, especially considering the psychology and expectations of players with a strong interest in gaming.
- Create competitive and emotionally resonant sound that aligns with industry standards and player behavior.
- Manage small to mid‑scale projects independently or collaboratively, delivering high‑quality results within budget and timelines.
- Execute assigned tasks with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
- Anticipate scheduling challenges and communicate proactively to support timeline adjustments.
- Occasionally initiate sound design tasks outside of scheduled projects with minimal supervision.
- Support fellow sound designers with tasks beyond their own project assignments.
- Collaborate effectively with other teams within Games R&D, ensuring smooth integration of audio into the broader development process.
- Apply and uphold the company’s sound direction, while proactively suggesting creative approaches that align with it.

- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Sound Design, or a related field, plus 2–4 years of experience in game sound development.
- Alternatively: 4+ years of professional experience in the music or sound design industry, plus 2–4 years of experience in game sound development.
- Master’s degree in Music, Sound Design, or a related field, plus 0–2 years of experience in game sound development.
- Alternatively: 6+ years of professional experience in the music or sound design industry, plus 0–2 years of experience in game sound development.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of sound design fundamentals, including sound effects creation, music composition, audio editing, and acoustic engineering.
- Demonstrates solid foundational skills in either sound effects creation or music composition.
- Actively self‑educates on new sound design techniques and shares acquired knowledge with peers.
- Capable of preparing progress reports and organizing/maintaining relevant documentation.
- Ability to quickly learn platform specifications and proprietary audio tools.
- Communicates professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, across all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required gaming licensure(s).
- Proficient in multiple audio production software applications, such as Logic Pro, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One, Digital Performer, Sound Forge, Wave Lab, and Pro Tools.
- Knowledge or experience with audio middleware tools such as Wwise or FMOD is desirable.
