On-Call Lighting Technician - KÀ

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group

We are looking for a Lighting Technician to support our Lighting team. You will be responsible for safe setup, use and maintenance of lighting systems and equipment to ensure show readiness. Tasks include running follow spot/deck cue tracks, maintaining cue track documentation, inspecting and maintaining lighting equipment, and supporting show needs during rehearsals and performances. A team‑player mentality and the ability to handle contingencies under pressure are essential.

Key Responsibilities and Opportunities
  • Learn and run follow spot/deck cue tracks, as directed by leadership, for performances, artist training, maintenance and special events.
  • Ensure the safe setup, use and maintenance of lighting systems and equipment used during performances, rehearsals and training periods by completing inspections in a timely manner.
  • Use safe wiring practices and maintain equipment, in accordance with industry standards for safe operations.
  • Assist with inventory, ensuring equipment and supplies are stocked in sufficient quantity to meet ongoing needs of the production.
  • Update all necessary maintenance and inspection records/documentation to ensure lighting systems and equipment comply with Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group established policies and standards.
  • Maintain cue track documentation and participate in cue track rotation, as directed.
  • Participate in special projects, including construction and installation of new show elements and other projects that involve lighting elements or related needs, maintaining a flexible schedule.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of Lighting Department equipment specific to the production, to operate it safely.
  • Assist with the cross‑training program to backup console operators and moving light repair technicians.
  • Adhere to and promote all OSHA regulations related to the safe operation of show elements; participate in required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training.
  • Contribute to a safe and positive working environment by following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety and established working methods.
  • Provide cross‑departmental support when necessary.
  • Complete other job‑related duties as assigned.
Hard Skills
  • At least two years of previous experience as a professional Lighting Technician or equivalent training.
  • Basic knowledge of digital test equipment for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Comprehension of basic principles of AC/DC electricity, basic electronics, and computer operations as they pertain to lighting systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD is a bonus.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card.
  • Ability to perform essential physical functions, including crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted, and other tasks required by the role.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Verified right to work in the United States (Form I‑9 completion and acceptable documentation).
