CAREER OPPORTUNITY

This LATERAL Municipal Court Marshal recruitment is designed for certified peace officers with current or prior experience with a law enforcement agency in the performance of duties directly related to Category I Peace Officer standards. Service time must be within five years immediately preceding application with the City of Las Vegas.

This position serves as a Peace Officer for the Municipal Court and performs a variety of sworn law enforcement related duties including serving arrest warrants, subpoenas, and other court orders; makes arrests; and maintains order in the court and transport prisoners to court and jail.

Salary, Benefits, and Schedule
  • Starting salary up to 7 years of experience:
    Step 1 (1 year of experience) $55,158 annually
  • Step 7 (seven years of experience) $69,792 annually
  • Top Pay 13 or more years of experience $88,310 annually
  • Nevada PERS Pension - Employer Paid Agency
  • No Social Security Deduction (6.2% stays in your check)

  • Field Training Officer (FTO) Incentive Pay (10%)

Testing Process (Applicant Status)

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE EVALUATION (Eligible List Placement)

The test for placing candidates on the eligible list will consist of an application evaluation and scoring. It is essential that applications include detailed information regarding education, certifications, and experience. Applicants who pass this assessment will move forward to the department assessment process.

Physical Readiness Test

The Nevada Administrative Code Section 289.200 sets the physical fitness standards required for a law enforcement recruit. These standards must be achieved to successfully complete an academy. This is a PASS or FAIL test. Failing any one of the standards is considered a failure for the entire test.

City of Las Vegas Testing Standards:

  • Vertical Jump (15 inches)
  • Agility Run (19.5 seconds)
  • Sit-Ups (30 qualifying sit-ups in 60 seconds)
  • Push-Ups (23 qualifying push-ups; no time limit; but can rest in up position)
  • 300 Meter Run (68 seconds)
  • 1.5 Mile Run (16 minutes, 57 seconds)
Personal History Statement

Candidate information will be forwarded to the department Background Investigation Unit as they are placed on the list. An investigator will email each applicant a Personal History Statement with a deadline for submission. The background unit processes candidates as needed. It is normal to have a wait period of a few weeks before an investigator contacts you.
