Halo Health is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team on a part time basis. As the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, you will lead and direct the care of psychiatric patients, and provide direct patient care to assigned patients while serving as a resource for the multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the attending provider to patients.
  • Complete initial psychiatric assessments, crisis interventions, family interventions, focused crisis diagnostic assessments, risk assessments, patient education, progress towards treatment goals, and discharge planning including medical, psychological, social, behavioral, and developmental aspects of the patient’s care, treatment, and services.
  • Assess the care pathway for patients including identifying parameters for involving the medical director in a case and the procedures for immediate client needs assessments and prompt referrals out when required.
  • Develop and implement individualized mental health treatment planning for assigned patients.
  • Provide competent psychotropic medication treatment and other psychiatric treatments to meet the needs of assigned child and adolescent patients.
  • Participate in care coordination with non-physician providers, including Licensed Therapists, and our Behavioral Health Care Coordinators, with respect to psychiatric treatment.
  • Complete medication flow sheets, medication reconciliation, medication education, and medication consent according to established policy.
  • Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and program development.
  • Identify medical services to integrate into the Halo service offering and develop procedures for these services to be administered.
  • Order laboratory tests according to standards of medical practice.
  • Review health assessment completed by nursing staff, obtain a past and current medical history, and conduct a focused physical examination as indicated.
  • Initiate contact with Primary Care Physicians and other Clinicians according to established guidelines.
  • Assess patient’s needs and guide the clinician team while managing treatment plan updates, in addition to initiating contact with outpatient clinicians.
  • Review and utilize all available documents from the crisis clinical team.
  • Utilize appropriate medication based on evidence and best practices.
  • Work closely with other personnel to ensure that each treatment modality is appropriate for the consumer in addition to working with outside psychiatric providers in crisis and inpatient services.
  • Participate in committees as assigned.
  • Attend supervision sessions as required.
  • Complete all other required trainings as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Unrestricted Registered Nursing license or Physician’s Assistant license in the State of Nevada.
  • Completion of an accredited PA or Nurse Practitioner program with a master’s level certification. If an NP license, it must include a specialty in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP).
  • Licensed in the State of Nevada and National Certifications.
  • 0-3 years’ experience in the delivery of crisis mental health and/or delivery of family health treatment to children, adolescents, and/or adults.
  • Unrestricted DEA license.
  • For NPs:
    Dual certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (preferred). Doctor of Nursing Practice (preferred).
  • Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or physician assistant program.
  • DEA X License.
