Position Summary: The Ophthalmic Technician is a vital member of the eye care team, responsible for assisting ophthalmologists in the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions. They perform various clinical and technical duties to ensure efficient delivery of eye care services.
Work Hours: Monday to Friday 7:30am - 5pm.
Roles And Responsibilities- Perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flow.
- Conduct diagnostic testing such as visual fields, OCT, corneal topography, venipuncture, etc.
- Assist with inventory of ophthalmic supplies, including pharmaceuticals and instruments on a regular basis.
- Provide phone support with requests for prescription refills as authorized by the physician.
- Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
- One year experience as an ophthalmic technician required.
- One year experience in a customer‑facing position preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to stay focused.
