Scismic is supporting the growth of an innovative non‑profit specializing in statewide pediatric rehabilitation services and adult day habilitation and career programs. The organization provides physical, occupational, speech, and feeding/nutrition therapy as well as educational services for children up to the age of three and their families in their homes through its Early Intervention Program and for children of all ages in its state‑of‑the‑art therapy clinics located in Las Vegas and Reno.
Job SummaryUsing a client‑centered model, within the confines of the company clinic and using a parent educational model in the Early Intervention program, an Occupational Therapist will help clients develop or regain physical or mental functioning by implementing programs to improve daily living and sensory‑motor activities. The Occupational Therapist also performs other administrative duties as may be required in support of the program goals and objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Develop ideas, plans, and procedures for initiation, expansion, improvement, and evaluation of therapy programs.
- Complete initial evaluations (MDT’s), re‑evaluations, and consultations for patients in the program; examine patients’ conditions and analyze their needs; determine the need for an occupational therapy evaluation and select and administer appropriate assessment tools.
- Prepare reports and attend multidisciplinary case meetings to review continuing treatment.
- Maintain clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and agency system policy; adhere to federal and state regulations and policies that affect occupational therapy practice.
- Participate in continuing education for professional development to ensure practice consistent with best practice and to meet Nevada licensure requirements.
- Participate in bi‑monthly staff meetings and attend staff trainings.
- Manage case assignments as determined by the company's needs in the Early Intervention and outpatient clinic programs, including feeding cases.
- Manage patients with different types of personalities.
- Interpret evaluation data and write comprehensive reports that reflect strengths and barriers to client participation; direct program development and guide evidence‑based intervention.
- Use professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision‑making in practice.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work in an environment with individuals with severe disabilities who may be developmentally and behaviorally challenged.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion pertaining to the work environment.
- Initial certification by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy required.
- Current Occupational Therapy License from the State of Nevada required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children using knowledge of treatment practices per discipline required.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Knowledge of federal, state, local legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures that mandate and guide occupational therapy in practice required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) required.

This position will require up to 80% travel within the service delivery area. The employee will work in the Las Vegas or Reno area under outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, wind, poor air quality, and wet or humid conditions.
