Requirements
- Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience, or twelve (12) years of direct expertise in multi-user environments
- Preferred experience in a higher education setting
- Proficient in communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams, whether formally or informally
- Expertise in designing, testing, and managing complex networks with redundancy
- Strong skills in troubleshooting across various IT domains to resolve performance issues
- Capability in creating and maintaining technical documentation and project plans
- Experience with significant IT documentation, procedure development, and policy support
- Extensive hands‑on knowledge with Cisco devices and network technologies including IP routing protocols and security measures
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with project/resource management practices
- Ability to guide and collaborate effectively within teams
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to various audiences
- Innovative thinker with a keen interest in new technologies and practices
- Collaborate with technical colleagues to adapt to evolving systems and functions
- Support the Director with strategic planning, budget management, and performance tracking
- Foster strong relationships with institutions and system leadership
- Lead projects that span multiple disciplines and enhance network capabilities
- Contribute to budgeting and vendor negotiations for projects
- Step in as Acting Director during the Directors absence
- Design, configure, and maintain network operations across the NSHE
- Work with end‑users to address and implement ongoing network needs
- Oversee video, voice, and data performance to maintain network quality and security
- Supervise network engineering personnel
- Research and assess new technologies and best practices
- Ensure effective communication for timely ticket resolution
- Manage network inventory and maintenance contracts
- Document network infrastructure and assets as needed
