As a third-party bodily injury
claims adjuster
, you’ll have a vital role in keeping our claims process efficient and accurate. You will focus on claims involving bodily injury issues. It will be expected that you will come up with a plan to resolve claims and write reports to the board of directors.
You will be responsible for investigating claims, retaining experts, determining settlement value, and writing reports. Part of evaluating a claim will include addressing liability arguments and comparative negligence
. You will need to review photos, video, and possibly conduct interviews.
To determine settlement value of a claim, review of medical records will be necessary. It will be important to have a working knowledge of how pre-existing injuries could impact a matter. This might mean the claimant has an eggshell status or that the pre-existing injury was not impacted by the accident. In addition, you should have an understanding of the medical implications of certain symptoms and whether they could lead to significant treatment.
Further, knowing reasonable market rates for services is important.
Understanding when pre-litigation experts would be needed is key. You should be able to identify when sub rosa needs to occur, medical records reviews are needed, accident reconstructionists should be retained, etc.
In addition, you will need to write reports for the board of directors relating to suggested settlement. Strong writing skills are important.
