What You Do
  • Lead and manage large, complex construction projects within the Building Solutions, North America business.
  • Organize program development, develop management plans, and monitor progress against those plans.
  • Identify actions required when deviations occur and adhere to standardized procedures.
  • Represent Johnson Controls to exceed customer satisfaction and maintain overall safety program compliance.
  • Act as primary leader for the overall program and project delivery teams.
  • Work with project sponsors, business development, and delivery teams to identify and deliver program objectives.
  • Manage risks and establish project recovery plans.
  • Mentor project teams and assess training needs for future leaders.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting via operational and financial systems.
  • Present performance updates to executive management.
  • Evaluate and review subcontracting strategies.
  • Maintain relationships with principal subcontractors.
  • Oversee monthly program evaluations through the CM Project Enterprise System.
  • Handle scope management (planning, definition, verification, change control).
  • Coordinate with corporate and regional installation managers for resource allocation.
  • Manage program asset control, collections, cost control, progress billings, and payables.
  • Ensure project document controls comply with contract requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, construction management, or architecture.
  • High-level construction management process competencies.
  • Minimum 15 to 20 years of direct project or construction management experience in the building construction industry.
  • Experience in vertical markets such as airports, hospitals, pharmaceutical, prison, data center, manufacturing, or higher education.
  • Proven advanced construction/project management skills managing large capital projects of $5 million or greater.
  • Track record of managing very large and complex projects within time and budget constraints.
  • Ability to manage construction from conceptual development through completion.
  • High-level understanding of contract language and project accounting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills and proficiency in speaking to large audiences.
  • Able to lead and direct diverse teams.
  • Personality traits that enable collaboration with owners, architects, engineers, etc.
  • Familiarity with construction industry software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and reporting tools.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environment.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree.
  • Certification as a PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) is highly preferred.
