POSITION SUMMARY

Promote volunteerism, recruit volunteers, assist with the United Readers program, and develop committed United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) supporters through the development of strategic partnerships. This will be accomplished by managing the coordination and placement of volunteers with a focus on the connection of corporate volunteers with appropriate opportunities at UWSN with member agencies, and in the community. Support administrative functions, volunteer outreach, community engagement tabling events, communication with nonprofit partners and other related responsibilities.

Provide direction for UWSN staff to accomplish volunteer goals and work plan objectives. Also, responsible for assisting and organizing UWSN volunteer and community appreciation events under the direction of the Senior Director of Volunteer Engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES /ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below:

  • Lead, facilitate, and implement service projects (kit builds) with corporate partners to bring in revenue to UWSN.
  • Manage and promote online volunteer database, Volunteer Connect, as a lead website administrator.
  • Manage and assist volunteer recruitment for ongoing opportunities and seasonal opportunities through Volunteer Connect.
  • Assist with volunteer newsletters and administrative tasks.
  • Respond to volunteer inquiries via the volunteer inbox and manage communications with nonprofits.
  • Assist with volunteer events, UWSN signature events such as Day of Caring, United Readers and recognition efforts.
  • Assist with data tracking and verification for the United Readers Program.
  • Support with planning of onboarding for United Readers Mentors.
  • Assist with community outreach for volunteer initiatives and attend community engagement tabling events, as needed.
  • Manage community donation drives.
  • Support internal department committees and collaboration meetings (Safety committee, Disaster committee, RFP committee, VITA Hub committee, Senior Expos, etc.).
  • Determine, solicit, and manage community volunteer project budgets.
  • Support development of volunteer resources and guidelines.
  • Assist with post‑volunteer project analysis by reviewing feedback, calculating statistics, and identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Organize, lift, and transport items up to 40 pounds.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
    • Valid Nevada Driver's license, proof of auto insurance coverage, and daily access to a personal vehicle for site visits, meetings, and projects.
