The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Convenience Care focuses on delivering comprehensive patient care within a clinic setting. Responsibilities include performing physical examinations, documenting patient histories, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing appropriate medications, and collaborating with inter‑professional teams to ensure efficient and effective care. The NP also leads clinical operations, staff training, and professional development within the clinic.
Essential Duties- Directly performs or orders appropriate diagnostic studies and interprets finished results.
- Develops and implements long and short‑range treatment plans.
- Performs procedures such as obtaining specimens, injections, immunizations, skin biopsies, suturing, and wound care.
- Writes orders to adjust medication, subject to physician checking and counter‑signing.
- Initiates consultations and monitors scheduling of patients for special tests.
- Updates and summarizes patient charts, and notifies the responsible physician of any changes in patient condition.
- Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding preventive care, medical problems, and medication use.
- Acts as liaison with governmental agencies such as the Center for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health; assists with medical research projects and obtains Institutional Review Board approval for protocols.
- Researches community resources for patient referral and recommends appropriate services.
- Maintains compliance with university and department policies, quality assurance, safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in in‑service education programs and professional associations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school of Nursing.
- 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions; ability to understand, follow, and successfully perform duties.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred; ability to communicate with Spanish‑speaking individuals.
- Registered Nurse (NV NSBN) – valid Nevada State Board of Nursing License as an RN.
- Nurse Practitioner – NP (NV NSBN).
- NP Board Certified; must hold one of the following NP specializations:
Acute Care (ACNP), Adult Medicine (ANP), Family Medicine (FNP), or Gerontology (AGNP). - DEA Certificate – U.S. Department of Justice, Schedule II‑V controlled substances; unrestricted DEA certificate with a Nevada address.
- Board of Pharmacy License – valid Nevada Board of Pharmacy certificate.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
- USC Credentialing – must obtain USC credentialing from the governing board within six months of hire.
