Postdoctoral Scholar of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) [R0145136]
University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar to join the Zhivagui Lab, conducting computational and experimental work on cancer genomics and biomarker discovery.
Job DescriptionWe require a motivated postdoc to spearhead experimental projects at the intersection of cancer genomics and experimental modelling. The postdoc will apply and optimize NGS library preparation, analyze genomic data, and conduct molecular and cellular assays.
Responsibilities- Design and execute experiments using molecular and cell biology techniques.
- Process human biological samples, including isolation of cells from blood and tissues; store and ship samples.
- Perform molecular biology procedures: DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, qPCR, ddPCR, next‑generation sequencing, etc.
- Prepare NGS libraries for whole‑genome, whole‑exome, 10x RNA‑seq, and other platforms.
- Perform cell culture procedures, including primary cells, flow cytometry, single cell analysis, etc.
- Implement, troubleshoot, optimize, and develop new assays.
- Assist in training of research methods for the laboratory group.
- Maintain detailed written records of work performed.
- Analyze experimental results: data collection, entry, statistical analysis, graph creation.
- Produce written reports and draft manuscripts for publication.
- Present oral or poster reports at laboratory, local, and national meetings.
- Assist with composition of grant applications.
- Assist in maintaining and monitoring all equipment for quality control.
- Review pertinent medical literature.
- Doctorate (PhD, MD, MD/PhD) from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in high‑throughput screening, next‑generation sequencing, or bioinformatics.
- Experience in culture of primary and stem cells. Preference for iPSCs and organoids.
- Knowledge of principles and practice of cellular and molecular biology.
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety standards.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to achieve goals.
- Creative problem‑solving and decision‑making under minimal supervision.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and perform statistical analyses.

Salary RangeSalary commensurate with labor market and availability of funds.
