Overview
The Personal Risk Specialist is an outside sales position focused on serving the unique insurance needs of affluent and high‑net‑worth clients. The role requires prospecting affluent individuals, building relationships with centers of influence, cross‑selling insurance products, and achieving annual business development goals.
Responsibilities- Schedule and conduct appointments with high‑net‑worth clients to understand their lifestyles, concerns, and insurance needs, and provide consultative risk‑management solutions.
- Achieve new‑business sales goals on an annualized basis, targeting USI ONE Advantage® clients.
- Develop prospect lists and lead sources to generate qualified opportunities.
- Penetrate assigned prospect targets using USI’s Engagement Platform, partnering with lawyers, financial advisors, realtors, and other professionals who serve affluent markets.
- Identify and overcome sales obstacles on a prospect‑specific basis.
- Deploy sales and marketing strategies and communications to optimize USI’s market position.
- Serve as a value‑added partner for external centers of influence, engaging, prospecting, and supporting their clients.
- Build strong relationships with Commercial Lines and Employee Benefits production staff to support cross‑sales.
- Establish and maintain trusted advisor relationships with clients and prospects.
- Support cross‑selling strategies for existing clients and pursue new relationships.
- Participate in and lead meetings with current and prospective clients.
- Maintain prospect data, develop lists, and track activity in USI’s CRM and sales‑tracking programs.
- Prepare proposals for Personal Risk Management clients, assist in writing responses, and present personalized insurance solutions.
- Work flexible hours as required by client schedules, including some evening hours.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in high‑net‑worth or personal insurance sales or service.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in personal lines insurance industry.
- Ability to travel 50% or more of the time and meet with clients.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Highly motivated, goal‑oriented, and organized.
- Strong customer service aptitude applied to the sales process.
- Deep knowledge of personal insurers and the personal insurance marketplace.
- Understanding and commitment to the objectives of the Personal Insurance Practice and Regional Office.
- College degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Active property/casualty license required (or to be obtained within 60 days of hire).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
