Program Management POSITION SUMMARY The Safety Patrol is responsible for helping maintain a safe, secure, clean, and orderly environment for members, staff, visitors, and the property. This position requires a dependable, alert, professional individual who can identify safety concerns, respond appropriately to incidents, assist with member intake and discharge processes, and maintain accurate documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Property & Safety Patrol Conduct scheduled patrols of the property, common areas, entrances, exits, parking areas, and exterior grounds.
Monitor for safety hazards, suspicious activity, unauthorized individuals, property damage, and other concerns.
Check doors, gates, and designated access points.
Report maintenance, security, and safety concerns to management.
Help maintain a safe and orderly environment throughout the shift.
Member Support & Accountability Interact with members respectfully and professionally.
Monitor compliance with established program rules and procedures.
Respond appropriately to disturbances and member concerns.
Report serious or repeated rule violations to management.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Member Intake Assist with maintaining a safe and orderly intake environment.
Greet incoming members and direct them through the appropriate intake process.
Assist authorized staff with intake procedures as assigned.
Direct members to their assigned rooms or areas after intake is completed.
Report prohibited, suspicious, or unsafe items or circumstances to management.
Maintain confidentiality of member information.
Member Discharges Assist management with member discharge procedures.
Help maintain safety and order during the discharge process.
Assist with securing vacated rooms or assigned spaces.
Assist with the return of program property, keys, access cards, or other issued items.
Report abandoned belongings or property left behind.
Immediately notify management of any conflict, refusal to leave, threat, or other safety concern.
Incident Response & Documentation Respond promptly to safety concerns, disturbances, emergencies, and calls for assistance.
Contact emergency services when appropriate and according to program procedures.
Complete a detailed and accurate incident report for all reportable incidents.
Document the date, time, location, individuals involved, actions taken, and management notifications.
Maintain objective, factual, and professional documentation.
End-of-Shift Reporting Complete a comprehensive End-of-Shift Report before leaving the property.
Document patrols completed, incidents, member concerns, intakes, discharges, maintenance issues, safety concerns, and other significant events.
Identify unresolved issues requiring follow-up.
Communicate important information to the incoming shift and/or supervisor.
Ensure all required documentation is completed and submitted before clocking out.
QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in housing, shelter, residential programs, security, customer service, or a related field preferred.
Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.
Strong observation and communication skills.
Ability to complete detailed written documentation.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to follow program policies and management directives.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
IMPORTANT EXPECTATIONS The Safety Patrol must remain alert, professional, and attentive throughout the entire shift. Sleeping while on duty, failing to complete required reports, neglecting assigned patrols, or failing to report significant safety concerns may result in corrective action in accordance with company policy.
Safety Patrol staff are not law enforcement officers and must operate within the authority provided by the program, applicable law, and their training.
