Job SummaryThe Aircraft Mechanic II - Structures will primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101(and supplements), as well as industry standards. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintains repairs/modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.
- Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
- Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
- Job requirements:
must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. - This job requires working knowledge of technical publications.
- The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, may occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
- Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
- Minimum of five years performing aircraft structures maintenance functions in a military environment and attainment of an Air Force 5 level (or equivalent) is required. Three years' experience on F-117A highly desired.
- Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a professional and non-confrontational attitude.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
- Requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
- Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory.
- Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
- This job requires working knowledge of technical publications.

- Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory.
- Knowledge of US Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory.
- Knowledge of the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government customer.
- Maintains qualifications contained on the Special Certification Roster (SCR) as directed.
- Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Position requires complying with unique commuting/travel requirements.
- Will work in aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft.
- Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, or overtime shifts as required.
- May work outdoors, sometimes in hot or cold weather.
- May be exposed to contaminants.
- May be exposed to hazardous conditions, such as when standing on scaffolding or climbing ladders.
- Will be exposed to loud and persistent noise.
- Will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: safety toe footwear, safety glasses, etc.
