This position is contingent upon Customer approval, funding, and/or position availability.
OverviewThe Carpenter will be based at one of two Amentum sites in Iraq and will serve underthe Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. The Carpenterperforms carpentry duties required to keep in good repair the building’s woodwork such as b,irsk, counters, benches, partic,lmat, doors, floors, stairs, trays, and all other woodwork.
DUTIES:
- Plan and layout carpentry tasks based on engineering drawings, blueprints, oral guidance, or design specs using accurate measurement and layout tools.
- Measure, cut, fabricate, and place wooden, plywood, and other build materials for framing, partitioning, and finishing using bothhand and power tools.
- Build, place, and repair structures like walls, doors, floors, cabinets, trim, and all other wood or composite fixtures in line with applicable codes and safety standards.
- Operate woodworking machines such as tablesaws, jointers, planers, routers, and sanders safely and accurately.
- Inspect finished work to certifi#y alignment, structural soundness, and overall quality.
- Collaborate with other trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers, welders) to align tasks and reduce conflicts during construction or repair.
- Read and adjust drawings in the field for unanticipated details or job‑specific alterations.
- Keep call logs, material orders, time sheets, and report status to the Carpentry Supervisor or Project Manager.
- Maintain a safe and neat work area by keeping tools, machines, and supplies in order and meeting safety norms.
- Undertake other work or projects as directed.
- Minimum Typical
Experience:
5 (5) years in commercial or industrial carpentry, covering framing, finishing, cabinetmaking, drywall, and/or concrete molding. - Show proof of reading engineering drawings or technical blueprints.
- Show experience with U.S. building codes and safety rules (e.g., OSHA).
- Read and understand technical drawings like blueprints and spec reports.
- Good use of hand and power tools and pick the right material for each job.
- Deep grasp of carpentry methods, structural needs, and finish norms.
- Work solo or as a team in a tight‑cycle, deadline‑driven job setting.
- Know work‑site safety practices and hazards.
- Familiar with material drawings and basic math for take‑offs.
- Good communicator and organized.
- Basic PC skill using Word and Excel for logbook and tracking.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completed formal carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training preferred.
- Journeyman level certification from a U.S. license or trade org strongly preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid passport with at least 18 months left on expiry and 8 blank pockets before the visa procedure.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- OSHA‑10 or OSHA‑30 qualification preferred.
Active DOD or DOS security clearance, retained at the required level for the contract term.
LANGUAGE:Sound English proficiency for job duties and safety, health, and security compliance.
MEDICAL:Pass and keep medical & dental checks for deployment to Iraq, sustaining physical and dental fitness for the deployment period.
DESIRED:- Prior work with Amentum liked.
- International or hostile environment experience a plus.

CONDITIONS:
This special service can lie in a war‑zone, hostile, and harsh surroundings.
• Tur mercy‑like desert‑paradise with 120‑130°F in summer.
• The worker must do 6 days/week, 10 hrs/day (or more).
• The 40‑lb gear checks, climbovers, crawl, and outdoor tasks are common.
• Must run & duck‑cover for emergencies.
This role persists under the stip for customer approval, funding, and/or availability.
