What you can expect as a Lead Interior Technician at West Star:
As a Lead your main focus will be centered on leading a team of technicians in producing timely results that are of the highest quality on aircraft interiors. This includes leading the installation, modification, repair, refurbishment and fabrication of aircraft interior components. There will also be varying amounts of parts replacement and general mechanical applications. The ability to evaluate and adjust on modifications is essential as well as training and maintaining workflow.
You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
* Lead the team to complete the necessary jobs/tasks. This includes using good judgement in handling day-to-day tasks, and knowing when to involve your manager or team leader.
* Independently manage installations by communicating with Interior Team Leader and various other departmental staff, determining flow for completing assignments.
* Perform quality checks, supervise and assign personnel on daily activities.
* Perform training, coaching and mentoring of team members to develop the job knowledge and performance of install techs.
* Prepare and deliver annual performance evaluations of assigned team members.
* Assist with engineering on design for major modification projects.
* Completely remove, repair and modify aircraft interior components with little or no supervision.
* Work independently on projects when required.
* Perform daily turnover sheets.
* Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
* Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
What you'll need to bring with you:
Your
Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of supervisory training classes preferred
Your Experience :
4+ years prior experience in aircraft component installation highly preferred
2+ yeas heavy modification experience preferred, but not essential
1+ year of supervisory experience preferred
Your Initiative:
We're looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.
Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer oriented work habits.
Assist in major modification work as needed
Other particulars:
Physical Requirements
Lifts 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
Routing or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands with emphasis on grasping, feeling and finger dexterity.
Standing for long periods of time.
Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas
Mental Requirements
Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, Hazmat, etc.
Work with others in a professional manner.
Read and comprehend various documents
Plan and organize procedures and operations
Supervision
Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Interior Management
May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.
Work with minimal supervision when required
Working Conditions
The majority of work will be performed in a hangar or shop environment
Work outside on the ramp on occasion
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
Personal hand tools supplied by the technician.
Electrical power tools such as sanders, saws, power drills, etc.
Sheet metal cutters, glue guns and metal benders.
Computer, copy machine, work order print outs and standard office equipment.
