Senior Software Engineer, HIL Infrastructure

Motional is a driverless technology company developing autonomous vehicles. This Senior Software Engineer role focuses on scaling and automating Hardware in the Loop (HIL) infrastructure to improve the reliability and efficiency of offboard testing workflows for autonomous vehicle software.

• Support HIL testing by automating bench health, accessibility, and reliability
• Implement release management automation for defining compatible software builds between vehicle components
• Work with operations teams to resolve release blockers and prevent similar future issues
• Data mine for insights on tool and process deficiencies, errors, and optimization opportunities
• Maintain HIL bench infrastructure ensuring critical testing pipelines remain active and functional

• 5+ years of Linux experience
• 5+ years of Python development
• 5+ years working with Git and CI/CD
• 3+ years interfacing with databases such as SQL, Postgres, or Trino
• 2+ years of C++ development
• 2+ years working with hardware, sensors, and low voltage electrical systems
• Experience with Vehicle CAN and Python automation interfacing
• Electrical familiarity for HIL bench connections and setup
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience in cross-functional development teams
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechatronics with Software option

• Cloud services experience such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Hands-on simulation experience
• OSC2 and YAML simulation scenario experience
• Autonomous driving experience
  
  Familiarity with networking, routing, VPNs, and VPCs

Base salary $149,000–$198,500 USD. Additional forms of compensation may include bonus or company equity. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k with company match, health savings accounts, life insurance, and pet insurance.
