Position: PRN - Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT)

The Staff Pad has partnered with a hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to hire an
Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT). This an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated healthcare team and make a direct impact on patient care in the emergency department.

Responsibilities
  • Greet, evaluate, and assist patients with necessary care needs.
  • Document patient conditions and treatments while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff to provide safe, timely, and competent care.
  • Deliver emergency care within scope of practice, including:
    • Vital signs
    • Point-of-care testing
    • Phlebotomy
    • EKGs
    • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
    • Other emergency management tasks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment.
  • Provide one-on-one observation for patients when needed, including those at risk of self-harm.
  • Answer phones, coordinate transfers, and perform additional duties aligned with hospital policies and state scope of practice.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited EMT program.
  • Current state certification or license required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (upon hire or within 90 days).
  • Flexible schedule — weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts required.
  • Ability to work full-time (36 hours per week) with 12-hour shifts (7 a.m.–7 p.m. or 7 p.m.–7 a.m.).
Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of direct medical clinical experience preferred.
  • Strong service excellence skills to support quality patient care and satisfaction.
  • Ability to prioritize patient needs based on severity.
  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and independently as needed.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software and EMR systems.
  • Commitment to infection control protocols and safety standards.
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 35 lbs, and utilize proper body mechanics.
