The Security Officer II is responsible for the overall security and well‑being of the entire Luna Community College campus. The role combines traditional security duties with a heavy emphasis on community policing, student interaction, de‑escalation, and creating a welcoming environment.

• Conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols of campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds.
• Monitor access to facilities and ensure doors, windows, and alarms are secured.
• Respond to calls for service, including disturbances, medical emergencies, safety hazards, and facility issues.
• Enforce college policies, parking regulations, and student conduct rules in a fair and respectful manner.
• Provide customer service such as giving directions, escorting individuals, and supporting campus events.
• Prepare incident reports; monitor CCTV and card access systems; investigate door‑propped or forced‑entry alarms.
• Observe and report suspicious behavior or conditions to prevent theft, vandalism, or safety risks.
• Operate security systems, radios, surveillance equipment, and access‑control systems.
• Participate in safety training, drills, and professional development sessions.
• Assist Life Safety Manager and Security Supervisor in coordinating safety programs and ensuring campus safety programs across departments.

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
• At least one year of security guard experience required.
• At least one year of supervisory experience required.
• Experience in community policing or customer‑service‑oriented security roles.
