why does the job exist?

this position is responsible for expediting the resolution of child welfare cases that do not require long-term or intensive involvement from the children, youth & families department (cyfd). This role ensures that casework is completed efficiently, in accordance with policy, and with a focus on safety.

how does it get done?
  • fast-track cases that do not require extended or intensive cyfd services, moving them efficiently toward closure.
  • consult with child welfare investigators and review their safety assessments to determine case viability for closure or outline next steps to facilitate resolution.
  • monitor and ensure compliance with established cyfd policies and procedures by investigators.
  • will serve as a mentor assisting supervisors in employee oversight and development.
  • via the call center, participate in case staffing to provide guidance and support, ensuring thorough case analysis and appropriate decision making.
  • the clear path consultant is responsible for consulting on investigations that meet clear path criteria, gathering necessary information to make informed safety decisions.
  • this role ensures quality, family-centered services by reviewing and approving unit work, verifying completion of investigative tasks per policy, and guiding case closure when appropriate.
  • the consultant ensures timely and accurate documentation in the facts/impact system and oversees case assessments and dispositions to support child-focused protective services and agency goals.
  • clear path consultants will be answering phones and entering documentation into the facts/impact system on an ongoing basis.
ideal candidate
  • working directly with children, youth, and their families;
  • partner with community service providers as it relates to children, and youth;
  • working with youth in a school setting;
  • determining eligibility for services that might be needed for the children, youth and families;
  • conduct and complete assessments of safety, risks, strengths, and family needs;
  • developing safety plans for the children, youth and families;
  • participate in multidisciplinary meetings;
  • identify, provide, and/or arrange timely assessments/evaluations/ interviews;
  • conduct medical case management activities for eligible clients.

bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional level experience with a tactical impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

working conditions

work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel is required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints.
