The Controls Engineer for the Remanufacturing team will be commissioning, troubleshooting, and programming automated equipment systems, robot applications, conveyor systems, vision systems, and process/equipment monitoring components. In addition, the engineer will collaborate with the maintenance team to identify, fix, and improve equipment and controls‑related failures.

• Lead controls commissioning efforts for more than seven manufacturing lines, supporting and assisting the maintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures related to control systems
• Implement and manage continuous process optimization, including the addition of advanced and conventional technologies to improve quality, productivity, and reduce overall waste
• Maintain and program state machines for complex processes involving conveyor processing, multi‑station parallel processing, and data acquisition
• Assume overall responsibility for controls‑related activities in the production shop, leading and assisting production and maintenance in all controls‑related topics and issues
• Use complex electrical schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and correct problems
• Develop and maintain Ignition projects and gateway, scripting API calls to web applications, managing database connections and named queries, and configuring OPC device connections
• Develop and maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, updating as required by modifications
• Identify weak areas of the production systems using root‑cause analysis and first‑principles thinking, implementing effective countermeasures using all available means
• Implement and enforce Tesla equipment safety standards into the manufacturing equipment, including periodic checks and qualification inspections
• Understand and program using several different programming styles, including ladder logic and structured text

• Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of professional controls engineering experience
• 2+ years of advanced PLC programming knowledge on Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff or equivalent PLCs in a professional environment
• Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting servo and AC drive control systems
• Fanuc robotics programming skills desired
• HMI programming experience – Ignition and Factory Talk
• Understanding of databases and various programming languages (MySQL, Python)
• Proven project management experience
• Proficiency in working with and creating electrical diagrams and prints

Expected Compensation: $72,000 - $151,200 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits.
