Position: Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct

Overview

Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct at Saint Vincent College. The role provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction for comprehensive residential life and student conduct programs aligned with the College’s mission and Benedictine values.

Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and management for the Offices of Residence Life and Student Conduct.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate professional staff (Assistant Director), paraprofessional staff, and student workers.
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, training, and development for all office staff.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, housing operations, and occupancy planning.
  • Serve as a key member of the Student Affairs leadership team, contributing to division-wide initiatives and crisis response.
  • Collaborate with Activities Programming Board, Athletics, Campus Life, Student Government, and other campus partners to integrate the residential experience with the broader student life program.
  • Serve as primary contact for all departmental communications regarding parents/guardians.
  • Participate in committee work for the department, division and/or College as deemed appropriate by the Sr. Director of Student Affairs.
  • Direct the yearly operations of campus residence halls.
  • Manage all residential housing assignments, including disability accommodations, and maintain occupancy records; coordinate annual housing assignment processes.
  • Collaborate with Dining Services, Facilities, Public Safety and other campus partners to maintain safe, welcoming, and well-functioning residential facilities.
  • Ensure strong residential programming that promotes community, academic success, personal and spiritual development.
  • Serve as active on-call 24/7 and first call for on-call RHDs in need of assistance responding to emergencies and for staff consultations.
  • Provide oversight of the College’s student conduct system and related policies.
  • Supervise the Coordinator of Student Conduct to ensure timely, fair, and consistent resolution of conduct cases.
  • Serve as a conduct officer for high-level or complex cases.
  • Provide trainings and presentations on student conduct processes to department staff and campus community.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for PAVE systems software, managing reports and maintaining/updating user information; require regular communication with CARE Team, Public Safety Office and Title IX Coordinator.
  • Oversee distribution of proactive educational material/programs regarding college policy (e.g., drugs and alcohol).
  • Develop and execute long- and short-term measurable departmental goals aligned with the College and department missions.
  • Maintain compliance with institutional policies, state/federal regulations, and best practices in student housing and conduct.
  • Use data and assessment to guide decision-making and improve student services.

Special challenges and environment: The incumbent will be required to live within a 25–30-minute drive of campus. This role includes additional evening and weekend obligations consistent with the academic calendar and student lifestyle; must be available in and outside of normal working hours for consultations and emergencies; regular walking and stairs are required.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in residence life, housing operations, and student conduct, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
