The postholder will support young people with an Education,Healthand Care Plan (EHCP) to succeed in real workplace settings as part of a Supported Internship programme.
The purpose of the role is to enable interns to develop job skills,confidence and independence
, so they can progress towards sustained paid employment. Support is gradually reduced as independence increases.
The postholder will bridge the gap between education and employment,
focusing on skill-building and independence
. Support provided is time-limited and focused.
Key qualification, skills and experience
- Maths and English at secondary education level or demonstrate equivalent experience
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft word/excel/outlook/PowerPoint/databases and Share Point
- Experience supporting young people or adults with SEND and/oradditionalneeds
- Understanding of inclusive practice and reasonable adjustments
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
- Ability to prioritise and self-manage
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to influence, persuade and negotiate
- Good problem-solving skills
- Active listening skills
- Commitment to promoting independence and positive outcomes
- Ability to support individuals in real-world, workplace environments
