We are seeking a senior engineer (or equivalent background) to help us lead teams to model, analyze, and develop the next generation of solutions to our nation's most challenging missile defense problems. As the threats to our defenses grow, we need creative thinkers and leaders that will push the boundaries of capability to ensure we stay ahead of these threats by thinking outside the box, taking risks, and collaborating across a team of engineers.
As a Senior Missile Defense Systems Modeling and Analysis Engineer...
- Your primary responsibility will be leading teams and writing and using MATLAB to develop and analyze Missile Defense systems.
- You will model, analyze, and lead performance assessments of fielded and conceptual systems and find opportunities for improvement. You will propose and develop innovative concepts/algorithms to improve US capabilities.
- You will develop presentations to effectively communicate technical recommendations to APL leadership, government sponsors, and the engineering community.
- You will contribute to a dynamic group culture to uphold core values through participation in collaborative teams and activities, as well as a dedication to continual improvement, innovation and risk-taking, and developing high quality products.
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Have a Bachelor's in electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or equivalent degree
- Have at least 5+ years of experience in a professional engineering setting with Department of Defense focus
- Have proven experience in leading complex, multi-disciplinary analyses
- Have proficiency using MATLAB, including using Object Oriented capabilities, to conduct modeling and simulation, perform analysis, and create visualizations
- Have proficiency using version control software to develop MATLAB simulations in a team environment
- Excel in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Are an effective communicator, both written and verbal
- Have or can obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
- Have specific domain knowledge of Missile Defense Agency, US Space Force, Navy, and Army sensors, battle management systems, and kinetic and non-kinetic defeat capabilities
- Have proficiency using MATLAB to develop event-driven simulations
- Have a Top Secret or higher clearance
