Cloud Systems Administrator, Advisor

Position Requirements:

Must-Haves:

• 8+ years hands-on experience with:

  • Red Hat/CentOS command-line administration

  • Linux/Unix networking (nmap, tcpdump, firewalls)

  • Kickstart provisioning and setup on Red Hat/CentOS systems

• 2+ years experience in:

  • Red Hat DNS Administration (DNS, DHCP, hosts files)

  • Kubernetes deployments using Helm charts

  • Infrastructure automation with Salt and Terraform

  • Git Ops workflows using ArgoCD for CI/CD in Kubernetes

  • CI/CD pipeline development in Git Lab

  • Monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana

  • Supporting and scaling AWS Cloud environments

  • Troubleshooting complex network/data flow issues

• Strong background in managing and maintaining Kubernetes clusters in data-intensive environments

• Experience in Linux-based cloud system administration for large-scale Hadoop/Accumulo clusters

Technical

Skills:

• Proficient in Bash and Python scripting

• Experience with configuration management tools:
  Ansible, Puppet, Salt Stack, Chef, Terraform

• System monitoring and network troubleshooting in cloud-based environments

Education &

Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (Systems Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)

  • OR 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

• Certifications required prior to start:

  • 8570 IAT Level I or higher (Security+ preferred)

  • One of the following:

    • AWS Certified Sys Ops Administrator – Associate

    • AWS Dev Ops Engineer – Professional

    • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Clearance:

• Active TS/SCI with current polygraph (Required)

Overview:

Peraton is seeking a Cloud Systems Administrator to join our high-impact Cyber Missions team in Laurel, MD. In this role, you’ll be an integral part of a cutting-edge operations team supporting mission-critical analytics within a dynamic cloud environment.

You'll work on a platform built using Java and open-source technologies like Kubernetes, Hadoop, and Accumulo—designed to support data-intensive analytics on a robust, managed infrastructure.

What You’ll Do:

• Ensure the stability and performance of day-to-day cloud operations.

• Provide expert-level technical support and troubleshooting across a variety of services and systems.

• Collaborate with development and engineering teams to maintain and improve operational efficiency.

• Support and maintain cloud environments by identifying and resolving infrastructure issues proactively.

• Work with a wide array of technologies based on evolving customer needs.

Required

Skills & Experience:

• Solid background in Linux systems administration and troubleshooting.
