Warehouse Operations Director at Coastal Sunbelt Produce
SummaryDirect all warehouse and distribution operations to promote safe, efficient, and optimal utilization of facilities, equipment, and personnel. Maintain a safe and sanitary environment that meets all federal, state, and company requirements while operating within designated financial and productivity guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee, observe, and enforce all safety rules to eliminate accidents and injuries.
- Manage, train, develop, evaluate, and hold accountable the warehouse management team and associates.
- Model responsible, accountable, and effective leadership for operations.
- Recruit, retain, and support all operations personnel.
- Execute processes for the selection, development, motivation, and evaluation of staff.
- Administer all company policies and procedures including training, communication, interviewing, discipline, and termination.
- Initiate and maintain sanitation programs for responsible areas.
- Maintain knowledge of company safety program, OSHA regulations, and division policies.
- Maintain working knowledge of all warehouse-related systems and processes, including refrigeration systems.
- Collaborate with RDC departments (Transportation, HR, Administration) and operating companies to achieve efficient product flow and drive cost and service improvements.
- Ensure proper receiving, slotting, and shipping of products, maintaining accuracy, product quality, and productivity.
- Work with the Senior Manager, Warehouse Standards, Systems and Engineering to minimize shrink and maximize productivity with WMS configuration and execution.
- Foster an environment that encourages associate involvement and commits to quality of work for self and others.
- Ensure all associate records, evaluations, and related documentation are maintained consistently and accurately.
- Maintain the appearance, maintenance, and security of the warehouse and equipment.
- Support safety efforts by working with the safety department to resolve safety issues.
- Send and receive positive communications to responsible associates.
- Communicate and reinforce policies and procedures (Coaching Maximizing Performance Program, Preferred Work Methods, and Best Business Practices).
- Maintain effective working relationships with all operational departments.
- Act as a problem solver for associate relations issues and department needs.
- Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (attendance, Code of Conduct & Ethics, Associate Handbook, etc.).
- Understand and ensure compliance with all applicable State/Federal laws and regulations (OSHA, HACCP, BRC, etc.).
- Support food safety policies, SOPs, and prerequisite food safety control programs meeting legal and quality requirements.
- Accept additional responsibilities or special projects as requested.
- Provide direction and leadership to subsidiary associates and communicate status and issues to RDC management.
- Determine and provide training and development for staff as needed.
- Identify staffing requirements and assist in recruitment to fulfill those needs.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for immediate subordinates and document expectations.
- Provide ongoing feedback on performance and department metrics.
- Manage all warehouse operations staff, including managers, supervisors, and non-exempt associates.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with associates, peers, and senior management.
- Strong planning, organization, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Capability to handle departmental issues, mitigate differences, and support direct reports.
- Proven ability to foster a cooperative work environment and collaborate across multiple teams.
- Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience managing confidential information.
- Pass a physical assessment test.
