ExamplesOf Duties
Provides advanced, professional casework for children
Conducts regular fieldwork (home visits, school visits) and contacts collateral sources to gather information
Ensure child safety, wellbeing, and permanency
Assesses service needs, makes referrals, and advocates for children and families
Manages caseload in timely manner
Completes required assessments, reports, service agreements, medical, and financial documentation
Documents all case activity accurately and on time
Communicates safety concerns promptly to supervisors
Prepares reports for Permanency Planning Reviews, Child and Family Team Meetings, and court proceedings; testifies in juvenile court
Maintains workload documentation (case dictation, daysheets, travel reimbursement)
Meets all DHHS policy and timeframe standards
Provides periodic on-call coverage with 24/7 availability; responds to abuse, neglect, and dependency reports
Identifies risk and implements safety interventions during on-call duties
Performs other duties as assigned, including shelter duty
Typical QualificationsMaster's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work
Or, Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only)
Or, Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience
Or, Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience
Or, Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience
Or, Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience
Special Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

BenefitsScotland County offers a wide range of benefits, including healthcare, supplemental plans and retirement programs.
Health We offer a high-deductible health plan with a $5000 deductible (Single). This program includes a Health Savings Account (HSA). Employee only coverage is completely funded by the County, PLUS the County contributes $1200 to the HSA annually.
Dental Our dental plan provides for preventive services, such as cleanings each year, at 100%. There is a $25 deductible for other services. Basic services pays at 80% and other major services at 50%. The County contributes $14.47 per month for employee coverage.
Voluntary Plans Employees may choose from a variety of plans arranged through Mark III Benefits. These include AFLAC Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity plans;
Met Life Group Cancer;
Mass Mutual Whole Life; and Superior Vision plans. In addition we offer Short-term and Long-term disability.
Life Insurance The County provides $10,000 Basic Life insurance for employees. An employee may choose to purchase additional voluntary term life insurance.
Retirement Pension is offered through the N.C. Local Government Employees' Retirement System. Employees are required to contribute 6% of gross wages toward their account. The County also contributes % (law enforcement 16.08%). 401(k) and 457 are supplemental retirement plans administered by Empower. For the 401(k) plan, employees contributing a minimum of 1% are eligible for the County contribution of 2.5% toward their account.
