The School of Basic Sciences at EPFL invites applications for a faculty position in Mathematics of Learning. The appointment will be at the Tenure Track level, with an expected start date in fall 2027.
We seek outstanding candidates with a research agenda focused on the mathematical foundations of learning and artificial intelligence. Indicative areas include, but are not limited to, theoretical performance guarantees, learning dynamics and generative modelling, sampling and transport methods, statistical foundations, and uncertainty quantification.
The candidate should demonstrate the potential to become a leading researcher in their field and is expected to establish an independent, internationally competitive research program. The successful candidate will supervise PhD students, engage with researchers in related fields across the EPFL campus, and show a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
