You will test components and sub-systems required for free space optical communication architectures, including on-ground demonstration. You will work on the definition and execution of test activities in the cleanroom, potential on-field assessments with dedicated instrumentation, and system integration. You will start by supporting overall activities, gaining autonomy to lead small to medium-sized test campaigns.
Responsibilities- Execute pre-defined test campaigns in the cleanroom and/or on field, focused on components and sub-systems
- Mount test setups and operate advanced equipment and instrumentation (optics, optomechanics, telescopes, RF, HW/SW)
- Write test reports and validate components/sub-systems against a compliance matrix (internal requirements, vendor/partner datasheets, etc.)
- Support sub-system integration and cleanroom maintenance
- Support formal and informal reviews
- Support proof-of-concept work
- MS in Engineering
- Experience or interest in: satcom and payload architectures, lasers and optomechanics, mechatronics/HW/SW, Python, cleanroom test activities, optical/RF instrumentation and automation, low-noise and low-vibration environments
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Prior working experience in industry is a plus
- Fluent English, strong writing and speaking abilities
- Swiss or EU (27) citizenship
- Based in Lausanne, on-site (not remote); expected transition into a permanent position after successful probation
