PresentationWe are seeking a laboratory technician in molecular biology and microbial genetics to join the lab of Prof. Paula Navarro in the Department of Fundamental Microbiology at the University of Lausanne. The group conducts interdisciplinary research at the interface of molecular and structural biology, phages, and mycolic bacteria. The selected candidate will have an experimental project focusing on the cloning and genetic engineering of phages and bacteria and will participate in conducting experiments as part of ongoing research projects.
Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the smooth running of the group by managing consumable orders, maintaining laboratory stocks, preparing culture media, and maintaining equipment.
- Starting date: to be agreed upon
- Contract duration: 1 year, with the possibility of renewal if funding is available
- Work rate: 70–100%

- Perform and actively collaborate on experiments in molecular biology and microbial genetics
- Keep an up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook
- Carry out cloning and genetic engineering of phages and bacteria
- Manage laboratory stocks

Qualifications- Federal Certificate of Capacity (CFC) as a laboratory technician in biology or equivalent training
- Proficiency in techniques such as microbial genetics, PCR, cloning, gel electrophoresis, plasmid extraction, bacterial transformations, and bacterial cultures
- Good time management and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Rigorous and meticulous work ethic
- Fluency in French and English
- High motivation and willingness to learn new techniques
The Department of Fundamental Microbiology provides a stimulating and supportive work environment, with access to excellent experimental facilities. The environment is highly international, and all activities are conducted in English. In addition to training within the host laboratory, many opportunities for continuing education are available.
