Data Scientist, Research Scientist, Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Mission
Your mission is to perform research within the theory of computation group cific areas of research include probabilistic proofs, succinct arguments, combinatorial optimization, approximation algorithms, online algorithms, sublinear algorithms, (quantum) computational complexity (proof complexity, communication complexity, etc.), quantum cryptography, algorithms and quantum learning theory.
Main duties and responsibilitiesYou will carry out independent research within the theory group. You will have large latitude to select the topics that best fit your profile and interest, within the scope of the theory group. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with PhD and Masters students. You are also encouraged to collaborate with other research groups at EPFL, whenever relevant.
Postdocs may contribute to teaching. This is generally not required but should be discussed with the hosting professor as department requirements vary.
Profile- Recent Ph.D. graduate or postdoc
- Proven scientific excellence in theoretical computer science
- Strong publication record
- Evidence of independence in research
- Leadership skills and good integration in a research group
EPFL is located in Lausanne (Switzerland) and ranks among the world’s top scientific universities. In French-speaking Lausanne, English is generally well spoken and is the main language tdoctoral positions come with a competitive salary for 1 year (> 80'000 CHF with yearly increments), renewable up to a maximum of 4 years.
