Mission
Within EPFL Sustainability, part of the Vice-Presidency for Research and Strategic Initiatives, your role will be to support the department’s activities. In particular, you will assist the Environmental Data Officer with her ad hoc analyses and cross‑functional projects.
Main Duties And Responsibilities- Collaborate on the collection, cleaning, structuring and documentation of environmental data, ensuring its traceability and quality
- Process and analyse data using Excel and Python
- Contribute to the preparation of EPFL’s carbon footprint assessment and that of laboratory activities
- Contribute to the development of the CO2 Calculator project in terms of calculation methodology and data
- Contribute to analyses aimed at studying the environmental impact and the progress of sustainability practices at EPFL
- Contribute to the drafting of communication content on sustainability results and initiatives (annual reports, dashboards, infographics)
- Master’s degree in environmental engineering, computational science, mathematics, data science, or a related field (the internship must begin within 12 months of graduation).
- Advanced skills in Excel (complex formulas, VBA) and Python (pandas, numpy, visualisation) for data processing and analysis
- Experience with best practices in versioning and code management (Git, Git Hub/Git Lab, etc.)
- Experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) would be an advantage
- Knowledge of Sima Pro or other life cycle assessment (LCA) software desirable
- Strong interest in sustainability issues, particularly in academic research.
- Creativity, organisational rigour and initiative.
