The Plant Ecology Research Laboratory (PERL) at EPFL, Lausanne, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the physiological mechanisms leading to leaf browning under climate stress. The project will test the conditions leading to leaf browning under acute stress and determine the potentially distinct physiological trajectories under varying stress conditions. Experiments will likely be conducted in controlled conditions (e.g., climate chambers) at EPFL in Lausanne, where the group is based.

In addition to research, there is the potential to mentor and collaborate with graduate and undergraduate students, and to gain teaching experience as the co-instructor of courses within ENAC. The postdoc will join the international and collaborative PERL group at EPFL, working on plant and forest responses to heat, drought, and climate change.

The successful candidate has a PhD in plant ecophysiology, plant physiology, forest ecology, or a related field, with experience in experimental plant research. Expertise in gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence, plant water relations, thermal imaging, or spectroscopy would be particularly valuable. Good English skills (writing and speaking) are expected, knowledge of a Swiss national language is a plus.

WSL is committed to diversity and inclusion as core values. We actively promote gender equality and foster an open, inclusive work environment.
